Ruben Amorim has made his feelings clear on one Manchester United star after the Red Devils beat Ipswich Town 3-2 in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.

Manchester United were 1-0 down inside the opening five minutes at Old Trafford after a howler from Andre Onana and a poor back pass from Patrick Dorgu.

Patrick Dorgu played the ball past an onrushing Andre Onana and the United No 1 missed the ball before Jaden Philogene pounced on the loose opportunity.

However, Sam Morsy turned the ball past Ipswich Town shot-stopper Alex Palmer in the 22nd minute after he connected with a Bruno Fernandes free-kick.

Matthijs de Ligt netted for United only four minutes later before the Red Devils were reduced to 10 men ahead of half-time after Patrick Dorgu was sent off.

Jaden Philogene completed his brace in first-half injury-time and United went into the break with a 2-2 scoreline on the board at Old Trafford.

The 23-year-old Ipswich winger whipped the ball into the box and it bounced past everyone, including Andre Onana, and landed in the back of the United net.

Ruben Amorim’s men walked away with all three Premier League points after Harry Maguire netted for United only two minutes into the second half.

Amorim on Man Utd star’s struggles

Manchester United climbed to 14th place in the Premier League table after Wednesday’s 3-2 victory against Ipswich Town.

Ruben Amorim’s side are 16 points clear of the Premier League relegation zone and United are 14 points adrift from the top four in the 2024-25 campaign.

United will now switch their attention to the FA Cup ahead of Sunday’s fifth-round FA Cup tie against Premier League side Fulham at Old Trafford.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, United manager Amorim insisted that Andre Onana needs to be ‘supported’ after his two recent howlers.

“He did some great saves that save our team and sometimes have some problems – but that is normal,” he said, as per the Manchester Evening News.

“I think if you look at our team you can find a lot of players with that issue.

“People talk about the second goal from Ipswich… he is waiting for the touch of Delap. That can happen.

“We just have to support Andre. We need to forget about the past and prepare for the future.”

Man Utd boss Amorim talks social media

Amorim voiced his frustrations towards social media and how people will “focus on the one bad thing” when there are “100” positive things around them.

“I think it is completely different for the players nowadays,” he said.

“Before, it was two newspapers and nothing more. Now you cannot go to social media without seeing the news or a photo.

“You can have 100 good things and then one bad thing, and people focus on the one bad thing.

“They need help to deal with that. It is modern football and they have to be prepared for that.”
