Harry Maguire believes that Ruben Amorim has a “brilliant” Manchester United player who has performed well for the Red Devils in the current Premier League campaign.
Manchester United have endured a mixed 2024-25 season and the Red Devils currently languish in 12th place in the Premier League table.
Ruben Amorim’s men are 13 points clear of the Premier League relegation zone and United are 12 points adrift of the top four after 23 matches played.
United have won only eight league matches from their 23 league fixtures, with the Red Devils recently beating Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
However, the Red Devils have seen an improvement in the Europa League under Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ruben Amorim and have won all four of their last four matches.
United had picked up three Europa League draws in a row under Erik ten Hag before the former Red Devils manager was sacked last October.
Amorim’s side will definitely punch their ticket to the knockout rounds of the Europa League if they beat Romanian outfit FCSB on Thursday evening in Bucharest.
Maguire impressed with Man Utd star
Speaking to the Inside United magazine, Harry Maguire has talked up the impact that Noussair Mazraoui has had at Old Trafford since his summer move.
Noussair Mazraoui and former Ajax teammate Matthijs de Ligt reunited with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford in 2024 after United signed the pair from Bayern Munich.
The 27-year-old Morocco international has impressed with his performances for the Red Devils and become a key first-team player for United in the 2024-25 campaign.
Mazraoui has shown his incredible versatility at Old Trafford and has played in the backline, as a full-back, a wing-back and even as a No 10 for the Red Devils.
The former Ajax and Bayern Munich star has remained part of Ruben Amorim’s plans and Mazraoui has adapted to the demands of the United manager’s tactical system.
Maguire insisted that the United full-back has proved he is a “well-rounded, excellent footballer” and “can play anywhere” on the pitch for the Red Devils.
“I think Nouss has been brilliant ever since he’s joined this season,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“He has played a lot of positions, I must say, and he can play anywhere.
“He’s just a really good footballer with a real good brain and I think you could play him in any position and he’d perform well because he’s just a well-rounded, excellent footballer. It’s great to have him in our team.”
Amorim on Mazraoui at Man Utd
Speaking about Noussair Mazraoui in 2024, Amorim admitted that the Morocco and United defender is the “future of our team” and is a “modern player.”
“He’s a top player,” he said at a press conference last December.
“He understands the game. He knows how to attack, he’s very technical, he’s very good defensively and he’s very good one-on-one.
“He’s a modern player. I think he’s the future of our team.
“When you think about him, you think we need more players like Nous that can control the tempo, they are really, really good and comfortable with the ball. So, Nous, I’m really happy with him.”
