Ruben Amorim has made a great first impression as the new head coach of Manchester United.

There is a new-found excitement and optimism around Manchester United following Ruben Amorim’s arrival at Carrington last Monday.

The 39-year-old suffered a delayed start due to work visa issues but Amorim held his first training session this week ahead of his debut in the dugout against Ipswich Town on Sunday afternoon.

Amorim appears to be an instant hit among the United squad with Marcus Rashford and Casemiro praising Amorim’s first session.

However, it is still very early days – we haven’t even seen Amorim’s side in action yet.

What Ruben Amorim told to Man United stars during first session

Amorim wasted no time getting his ideas across to his new squad during his first training session.

Amorim was spotted praising Mason Mount – a player who has struggled to settle in Manchester following his big-money move from Chelsea.

While there is plenty of excitement throughout United’s fanbase following Amorim’s arrival, there are a few who have drawn comparisons to previous managers such as Erik ten Hag who arrived at United with a similar reputation.

However, it seems Amorim has made it immediately clear that he will do things his own way.

According to The Sun, Amorim told his players that no United manager since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement has been able to replicate his success because “they have lived in his shadow”.

Amorim wants to move away from trying to emulate Ferguson’s golden years and would rather his team “play with his spirit”.

The report adds that players have been “very impressed” by Amorim’s start at the club.

Ruben Amorim has the ingredients to succeed at Man United

Ahead of his arrival at United, Amorim joked about becoming the “new Sir Alex Ferguson” after beating Manchester City 4-1. Clearly that is not something he desires.

Amorim wants to make his own name at Old Trafford, and he certainly has the potential to achieve it.

Former players hailed Amorim’s communication – a trait that Ferguson claimed was key to his success. Within the first week of Amorim’s tenure, it is already clear that is a big strength of his.

Unlike other post-Ferguson managers, Amorim will also have a good leadership group supporting him. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos have hired top-class directors to work alongside Amorim and now they have a clean slate to work with.

It may still require time and patience as Amorim gets his ideas across to the squad, but there is plenty of reasons to be excited about United’s future under the Portuguese.
