“First impression is really important,” Amorim explained. “To maintain the level is even more important, really difficult.

“He is not Schmeichel yet. He is a young guy with talent. He showed a lot of composure, and the fans liked it, but we need to prove it in the next game.”

Amorim might have just confirmed that Lammens will start at Anfield with his comments, where United will hope that he proves himself as good as the debut suggested.

Additionally, Amorim has set the gauntlet for Lammens to continue impressing, making sure the Belgian doesn’t think he’s made it.

Senne Lammens will have to repeat his heroics from Sunderland clash

Against Sunderland, Lammens was United’s man of the match, and if United get something at Anfield, it will likely take another big performance from the Belgian.

In the 2-0 win, Lammens prevented 0.94 goals, which has him as the best goalkeeper in the league per 90 for goals prevented.

This shows how pivotal Lammens was, as without him, United would have likely conceded once or even twice.

So against Liverpool, Amorim will want Lammens to further establish himself as the starting goalkeeper, and he will definitely be tested with Liverpool’s big-money attackers.
