Ruben Amorim has appeared pretty upbeat while raving about the potential of one player in his Manchester United squad.

Things have gone pretty badly for Ruben Amorim in his first three months as Manchester United’s head coach, but the performances are improving.

Despite a substantial injury crisis, things are getting better and Amorim will hope Sunday against Fulham plays host to a statement performance to turn the tide on the season.

Amorim has probably learned more about his team in the past two weeks than in the previous two months due to full weeks of training. This has seen him talking up some of his best players too.

Amorim defended Andre Onana amid severe criticisms due to the goalkeeper’s consistent howlers. Amorim also backed Bruno Fernandes after a critique from Roy Keane, which shows why Sporting players were so loyal to him – because he backs his team.

Now, Amorim has set a challenge for one player in his team to improve but also had plenty of praise for him.

Ruben Amorim tips Leny Yoro to become a top player

The Manchester United squad is a young one, which is only going to get younger if Ineos’ rumoured targets are all signed this summer.

However, this is exciting and sees some of the best talents in the country under the roof at Carrington.

One of the most promising youngsters United have is Leny Yoro, who joined from Lille last summer for around £52m. Yoro was viewed as a generational talent by United and simply had to be signed.

Now, speaking with MUTV, Amorim has praised Yoro while outlining his improvements and tipping him for future greatness.

“He’s working really, really hard. He’s gaining muscle. Everything you don’t see, he does. He’s going to be a top, top player.”

Continuing, Amorim suggests Yoro is set for a successful career at the club, but also set a challenge to the Frenchman.

“He’s going to have a great career here in Manchester. For that, he knows he has to prove himself in every game.”

Leny Yoro is coming off best display yet for Manchester United

The 19-year-old debut season for United only started in December, with Yoro putting in an impressive cameo against Arsenal. However, it has not been all positive.

After struggles against Southampton, Paul Scholes revealed his worries over Yoro. The teenager has bounced back though and on Wednesday night he put in arguably his best performance yet for United.

Yoro was excellent for United against Ipswich, with some standout areas as he thrived on the left side of the back three, where he was granted a license to get forward and involved in the attack.

With his age, Yoro is only ever going to get better and improve, which is an exciting thought – assuming United also improve after the club is completely reorganised and the squad is rebuilt.
