Ruben Amorim says one Man Utd star ‘isn’t available’ for Nottingham Forest clash while another is ‘still not training’

Ruben Amorim has provided an important update on two Manchester United stars ahead of the match against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The 39-year-old Manchester United manager suffered his first defeat in charge of the Red Devils during the midweek against Arsenal.

Goals in the second half from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba sealed all three Premier League points for Arsenal at the Emirates on Wednesday evening.

The Red Devils have tumbled to 13th place after the 2-0 defeat to Arsenal and United are now seven points off from the Premier League top four.

Ruben Amorim faces an uphill battle in securing Champions League football for United next season after his arrival at Old Trafford in November.

Erik ten Hag was sacked in late October after a poor start to the Premier League season and United triggered the release clause in Amorim’s Sporting CP contract.

Ruud van Nistelrooy had served as United interim manager after Erik ten Hag was dismissed and led the Red Devils for four matches before his Old Trafford exit.

Amorim talks two Man Utd stars

Nottingham Forest travel to Old Trafford on Saturday to face Manchester United, with kick-off for the Premier League clash slated for 5:30pm UK time.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, Ruben Amorim revealed that United defender Jonny Evans has not returned to training.

Jonny Evans has not played for United since Amorim’s first match in charge of the Red Devils against Ipswich Town at Portman Road last month.

United manager Amorim did confirm that Victor Lindelof had returned to training for the Red Devils, but the defender would be unavailable against Forest.

Victor Lindelof has not featured under the former Sporting CP boss and the 30-year-old Swedish defender hasn’t played for United since the 2-0 win over PAOK.

“Jonny is still not training; Victor has returned to training but isn’t available for tomorrow, maybe in the next game he will be available,” Amorim said, as per the Manchester Evening News.

Amorim reflects on Arsenal defeat

Amorim claimed that he “saw so many things that were wrong” in both United’s 4-0 demolition of Everton at Old Trafford and the 2-0 loss to Arsenal this month.

“It’s really hard, I learn the same with wins because I focus on the performance,” he said.

“We won 4-0 against Everton but I saw so many things that were wrong. I saw the same against Arsenal.

“We need time to think about things. We don’t have much time to train and have to prepare for the next opponent, but when I see the team, I think we’re improving in some aspects.”
