Ex Man Utd winger blasts Ruben Amorim and names coach Ineos should have appointed instead, ‘I have had it’…

Manchester United fans and former players are fed up with the team’s problems.

The patience of Manchester United supporters are being well and truly tested right now. The truth is, that we simply are not a very good team.

They say the league table never lies, and the club’s current position of 14th place is beyond what any fan would have listed as a worst case scenario heading into the year.

The baton of responsibility has been passed onto new head coach Ruben Amorim, after Erik ten Hag was sacked in October.

Gordon Hill on Manchester United

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand issued a short ‘no comment’ response after the team’s 2-0 loss to Wolves.

The Boxing Day defeat offered very few reasons to be positive, and even before Bruno Fernandes’ sending off, United were struggling to create chances.

Former United winger Gordon Hill described the match as a game between ‘two bad teams struggling’, adding that watching it was ‘a waste of time’.

Wolves had been in the relegation zone for most of the season and currently rank 17th, now just seven points behind 14th placed Manchester United.

Hill is not sold on Ruben Amorim and his tactical approach with three at the back, wing-backs, and less of a reliance on wingers, the position he once played for the club.

United lack the players suited to Amorim’s system and it could take several transfer windows to give him the squad he needs.

Hill blasted on X that he feels Amorim is at risk of over-complicating the game.

He wrote: “I am tired of hearing about new systems, you have 11 v 11, simple, attack as much as you can. and defend them from scoring. why do these coaches complicate the game, as I said before Football is a simple game complicated by coaches. please don’t reply to this. I have had it.”

Hill wanted Ruud van Nistelrooy

After three consecutive defeats for Manchester United that included a cup elimination, it’s understandable there is some second-guessing going on.

One fan responded to Hill and suggested United should have simply stuck with Erik ten Hag, who had originally led the club into the bottom half of the table.

He disagreed, responding: “We should have let Ruud have it,” in reference to former caretaker boss Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Van Nistelrooy was a popular figure as caretaker boss, remaining unbeaten during his four matches in charge.

It must be noted, that his three wins came in home matches against PAOK, Leicester City (twice) and a draw against Chelsea.

Amorim has had tougher encounters to get through, and already has an away win over Manchester City under his belt.

It’s certainly possible that United may have been better off with Van Nistelrooy in the short-term – Ineos have made the decision Amorim had a higher long-term upside.

Up next it does not get easier, with United taking on Newcastle, Liverpool and Arsenal.

We look forward to Amorim hopefully proving his doubters wrong.
