Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has provided a major update on four first-team players ahead of the Premier League clash against Chelsea on Saturday.

The Red Devils are back in action on the weekend and Ruben Amorim will be hopeful of his Manchester United side bouncing back from their derby defeat.

United were in action against Manchester City in their first match in the post-international break, with the Red Devils falling to a 3-0 defeat at the Etihad.

City’s win over United in the first Manchester derby of the 2025-26 season moved Pep Guardiola’s men up in the Premier League table to eighth place.

But United dropped to 14th place in the aftermath of last Sunday’s result and the Red Devils have won only one league match ahead of Chelsea’s visit to Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim’s Man Utd injury news includes former Chelsea star Mason Mount and ex-Wolves ace Matheus Cunha

Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount were both absent for Ruben Amorim in Manchester United’s 3-0 Premier League defeat to Manchester City due to injury.

Mason Mount was subbed off in United’s 3-2 win over Burnley in August, while Matheus Cunha was forced off in the first half of the same Premier League match.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has revealed that both Mount and Cunha are back from injury.

Mount and Cunha will be in the United first-team squad for Saturday’s match against Chelsea, but Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martinez have both been ruled out.

“Dalot is out, Mase and Cunha are in the squad,” he said, as per the Manchester Evening News.

“Licha is still out, that is it.”

What has happened to Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martinez after Ruben Amorim’s Man Utd injury update?

Diogo Dalot pulled out of the Portugal squad due to injury during the September break and the Portuguese defender subsequently missed the Manchester derby.

Lisandro Martinez, on the other hand, has been a long-term absentee for United and has not featured for the Red Devils since the 2024-25 Premier League campaign.

The 24-year-old United defender suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his knee last February and was stretchered off in the defeat to Crystal Palace at home.

Martinez has been working on his fitness after his latest injury setback and the World Cup winner is unlikely to return until after the October international break.

United host fifth-place Chelsea at Old Trafford on Saturday evening and kick-off for the Premier League clash is slated for 5:30pm UK time.
