Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is already making an impact at Old Trafford.
With Manchester United’s 4-0 win over Everton, Ruben Amorim led the team to a bigger winning margin than Erik ten Hag ever managed in a Premier League game.
Another eye-catching feat awaits for Ruben Amorim if all goes right this week, when Manchester United face Arsenal in the Premier League.
United have failed to win against Arsenal at The Emirates in the Premier League since 2017, when Jose Mourinho was manager.

Manchester United away record vs Arsenal
Here is a look at Manchester United’s incredibly poor Premier League record away at Arsenal over the past 10 years.
In the past nine years, Manchester United have only won one league game at The Emirates, back when Jose Mourinho was manager, with Jesse Lingard dancing on the pitch.
Last season United came close, taking a 2-1 lead in stoppage time, before Alejandro Garnacho’s goal was controversially ruled out for offside, and Arsenal went on to score twice in the further added minutes.
| Result | Date | Manager |
| Arsenal 3-1 Man Utd | 3/9/23 | Erik ten Hag |
| Arsenal 3-1 Man Utd | 22/1/23 | Erik ten Hag |
| Arsenal 3-1 Man Utd | 23/4/22 | Ralf Rangnick |
| Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd | 30/1/21 | Ole Gunnar Solskjaer |
| Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd | 1/1/20 | Ole Gunnar Solskjaer |
| Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd | 10/3/19 | Ole Gunnar Solskjaer |
| Arsenal 1-3 Man Utd | 2/12/17 | Jose Mourinho |
| Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd | 7/5/17 | Jose Mourinho |
| Arsenal 3-0 Man Utd | 4/10/15 | Louis van Gaal |
There was one non-Premier League win during this period, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer leading United to a 3-1 win at The Emirates in the FA Cup in January 2019. But he was unable to defeat the Gunners away in league matches.
Amorim will have to follow that in January, when United head to Arsenal again in the FA Cup third round.
United’s awful away record at The Emirates is going to be tough to overturn for Ruben Amorim in just his third ever Premier League game. And he must do so without Kobbie Mainoo and Lisandro Martinez, who are suspended for the fixture.

Manchester United last XI to win at Arsenal in the league
It is seven years since Jose Mourinho took Manchester United to The Emirates and won, and his Red Devils team looked very different to the one we see today.
Antonio Valencia and Jesse Lingard put United 2-0 up with the opening 11 minutes. Alexandre Lacazette pulled a goal back early in the second half, before Lingard grabbed another to extend United’s advantage to 3-1.
Interestingly, Mourinho led United to this win while playing three at the back formation, with Valencia and Ashley Young at wing-backs.
While you can’t read too much into a tactical choice seven years ago against a different manager and different set of players, the choice to go with three centre-backs did work in a difficult environment, where the defender came in useful.
Despite this, Arsenal had most of the play, attempting a total 33 shots and had 76 per cent possession.
The game’s real standout was David de Gea, who faced 16 shots on target from Arsenal, while United had only four shots on target and scored three, a real smash and grab raid for Mourinho’s United, just the way he liked it.
