Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has made his position clear on Wolves star Matheus Cunha ahead of the Red Devils’ Premier League tie with Bournemouth.

Matheus Cunha is under contract with Wolves until 2029 and the 25-year-old Brazilian forward is widely tipped to leave the Molineux this summer.

The Brazil international has been a key player for Wolves and Cunha has netted 16 times and registered four assists in 31 matches across all competitions this season.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with Cunha and the Red Devils are now believed to be the firm favourites to sign the Wolves forward in the summer.

Cunha has a £62.5m release clause in his current Wolves deal and Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim is believed to be a big admirer of the Brazilian attacker.

United manager Amorim is expected to make an overhaul of the United first-team squad at the end of the 2024-25 campaign and he is keen to reinforce key areas.

Cunha has attracted interest from Premier League clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle and United could have to splash out big to sign him.

Ruben Amorim asked about Man Utd’s interest in Wolves attacker Matheus Cunha and he sets the record straight

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Ruben Amorim was asked if Manchester United would try to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

The 40-year-old United head coach shut down the speculation around Cunha and Amorim insisted that his main focus remains on United’s season.

“I could say this is a conversation for the end of the season but I have an idea that is clear because we need to do things early,” he said, as per the Manchester Evening News.

“I will not say anything about Matheus because if I say one time, I will have to comment on every situation.

“I am focused on this season and even in the next few games could change our plan for next season.”

“I don’t talk about Bilbao, I focus on Bournemouth,” he said.

“The way they perform against Bournemouth can change my mind for the next game. We need to win, that is all?
