Ruben Amorim’s true feelings on Manchester United trying to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig have emerged amid the Red Devils’ pursuit of the former Arsenal target.
Benjamin Sesko has become a key Manchester United target in recent weeks, with the Red Devils eager to bring a new striking option to Old Trafford this summer.
The 22-year-old Slovenian forward has been heavily linked with Arsenal, but the Gunners ended their pursuit and instead signed Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP.
Sesko is under contract with RB Leipzig until 2029 and the Bundesliga outfit are holding out for a hefty fee before allowing the United-linked striker to leave the club.
The Slovenia international inked a new deal with RB Leipzig last summer and his release clause stood at £55m at the time of him signing his contract extension.
However, Sesko’s release clause has since risen after meeting different performance-related add-ons and the forward’s current price tag now sits in the region of £68m.

Ruben Amorim’s position on RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko could have a direct knock-on effect for Man Utd ace Rasmus Hojlund
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim reportedly has a plan to use Benjamin Sesko to further benefit Rasmus Hojlund’s role at Old Trafford under him.
According to The Sun, it has been reported that the 40-year-old former Sporting CP boss has viewed the RB Leipzig and Slovenia striker as a ‘dynamite’ option for him.
It is believed that Amorim wants to have Sesko play a role where he can provide a real challenge for Rasmus Hojlund, who could be ‘spurred’ to improve at United.
The newspaper added that Hojlund is still seen as a player who could ‘mature into a top-class alternative’ and Amorim feels that he lacked ‘competition’ last season.
Amorim was left frustrated at times last season after the 22-year-old Denmark striker endured a ‘tough’ campaign, with Hojlund struggling to lead the frontline.

Rasmus Hojlund has featured in the Red Devils’ pre-season tour and has been lively in the attack, including scoring the opener in United’s 4-1 win over Bournemouth.
Following United’s result against Bournemouth on Thursday, the Red Devils striker insisted that his desire is to remain at Old Trafford for the 2025-26 campaign.
“I think my plan is very clear and that is for me to stay and fight for my spot, whatever happens,” he told reporters, as per the London Evening Standard.
“I am still very young. I think people sometimes forget that.
“I am only 22 years old. I have learned a lot, and I think that shows in my game. I have done very well so far during the pre-season.”
Hojlund is under contract with United until 2028 and the Denmark international has been linked with Serie A clubs Inter Milan, AC Milan and Roma this summer.
