Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim and Ineos chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe have been told a player with “brilliant” technical ability could still fetch them a decent fee.
Ruben Amorim is in for a busy summer at Old Trafford after the Red Devils’ woeful 2024-25 Premier League campaign, with the club finishing in 15th place in the table.
The Red Devils will also be without European football for the 2025-26 campaign after Manchester United’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham in May.
Amorim is expected to make sweeping changes to the United first-team squad that he inherited from Erik ten Hag after he became United manager last November.
United wasted no time once the summer transfer window opened in June and the Red Devils snapped up Matheus Cunha from Premier League side Wolves.
The Red Devils bolstered the attacking options in Amorim’s squad, with United paying Matheus Cunha’s £62.5m release clause in his Wolves contract.

Ruben Amorim and Ineos boss Sir Jim Ratcliffe must now make the crucial Jadon Sancho decision after his Chelsea move collapsed
Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho is now set to make his return to Old Trafford on 30th June once his contract with Premier League side Chelsea expires.
Chelsea signed Jadon Sancho on a season-long loan last summer and the deal included an obligation to sign him for a fee between £20m and £25m this summer.
However, it was revealed that the Blues had the option to pay a £5m penalty fee if they wanted to send the 25-year-old winger back to United instead.
The Premier League have now exercised their option to avoid making Sancho’s move to Chelsea permanent and the United attacker will leave Stamford Bridge this month.
Speaking to talkSPORT, BBC pundit Danny Murphy insisted that the former Borussia Dortmund player could still secure Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos a £25m transfer fee.
“He’s a bright footballer,” he said, as per The Daily Mirror.
“He turned up at Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world, when he was 20 and because they paid a huge amount for him, which was inflated, he was expected to hit [the ground running].
“I think Jadon Sancho for £25million is really good value.”
What Jadon Sancho has shown as a player and what the Man Utd and Chelsea winger ‘very rarely’ does wrong
Jadon Sancho’s Chelsea spell has ended with the United player scoring five times and registering 10 assists in 41 matches across all competitions for the Blues.
The United loanee will leave Stamford Bridge with a Conference League winner’s medal after Sancho’s impact for Chelsea against Real Betis in the 2025 final.
Danny Murphy insisted that former England international Sancho has “done alright” during his season-long loan spell at Chelsea in the 2024-25 campaign.
“I’d like to think people evolve, young players especially, you have to give them time to make mistakes,” he said.
“But I actually think he’s done alright for Chelsea this season when I’ve seen him.
“His technical ability is brilliant. [He] very rarely gives the ball away, now [the] end product is a question mark.
“He’s played in a lot of big games, and that’s because he’s reliable with the ball and he knows his job.”
Sancho has struggled to impress at United since his £73m move from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 and he has scored 12 times in 83 appearances for the Red Devils.
