Ruben Amorim’s debut did not go exactly to plan with Manchester United drawing 1-1 with Ipswich Town.
It started brilliantly with Marcus Rashford scoring 81 seconds into the match at Portman Road to kickstart Ruben Amorim’s reign.
However, the hosts drew level through Omari Hutchinson and Manchester United were unable to find a winner.
As expected, Amorim lined up in a 3-4-3 shape and after only two training sessions with the full squad some United players struggled to adapt.
United fans grew frustrated with Rashford after his performance levels dipped after scoring, while Jonny Evans also struggled at the back.

Roy Keane warns Ruben Amorim he has a ‘huge problem’ at Man United
Amorim was loved at Sporting after taking charge of the club during a low point and guiding them to success.
He faces a similar challenge at Old Trafford – a task he is looking forward to getting stuck into. Amorim told Gary Neville that he wants his United side to keep the ball better and control games. Despite the strong start and taking the lead against Ipswich, United struggled to keep control.
United legend Roy Keane spoke about Amorim’s debut and believes he also has a “huge problem” when it comes to a lack of threat.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane said: “He’s got big problems. The lack of threat in the second half and Ipswich looked like they’d go on and win. They’ve not won at home all season.
“Same problems for Man United but he’s only had a week with them.
“You have to give the man a chance but the threat going forward, it’s a huge problem for Man United. It’s not good enough.”
Ruben Amorim kept Man United promise
During Amorim’s first interview as United boss he promised fans they will see an “idea” of his style of play. He kept that promise against Ipswich.
There were clear patterns of play but United struggled to stay consistent and control the match as Amorim would have wanted.

However, after only two training sessions with a full squad, that was to be expected and United will only improve as time passes.
There were plenty of promising signs under Amorim, including Bruno Fernandes’ superb performance and Amad Diallo thriving at wing-back.
