You know a transfer is big for Manchester United when Roy Keane gets excited.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to United has everybody buzzing.
United confirmed the move, subject to medical, after a quickly agreed transfer with Juventus.
Roy Keane played with Ronaldo between 2003 and 2005 and he is delighted to see his old teammate return to Old Trafford.
Ronaldo’s place in history secure
Ronaldo is one of the greatest players of the modern era, and he is a Manchester United icon.
Now with his return, he has the chance to become a true legend.
By signing for City, he would have undone so much of all that, and alienated a fanbase which worshipped him.
After achieving so much in his career, would it have been worth it for a shallow shortcut to try and win silverware?
Ronaldo can still pursue trophies at United, and he can do it with honour, and with 75,000 home fans cheering him on each and every week.
