Roy Keane fully rattled by one punditry line from Gary Neville and it can’t be unheard, Man Utd legend’s rant is pure box office

Roy Keane dropped an explosive rant on Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville after he hilariously called out the Manchester United legend for one line on punditry.

Both Gary Neville and Roy Keane shared the pitch together at Manchester United and enjoyed incredible success under Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

Keane excelled as United captain and was a linchpin midfield figure and locker-room leader for Sir Alex Ferguson before their relationship fractured in 2005.

Neville, on the other hand, spent his entire playing career at Old Trafford and even inherited the captain’s armband after Ferguson axed Keane from United.

Keane and Neville have since become leading figures in punditry, with the pair often featuring for Sky Sports during the Premier League season.

The two United legends have also linked up on The Overlap and have regularly appeared together on the widely popular Stick to Football podcast.

Keane calls out Man Utd legend Neville

Before the success of the Stick to Football show, Gary Neville crossed paths with Manchester United legend Roy Keane during a 2021 interview on The Overlap.

Keane opened up about his legendary football career and his life away from the football pitch during his dog walk with former United teammate Neville.

During their time together, the 53-year-old Irishman didn’t pass up the opportunity to call out his fellow United legend for one line of punditry that he delivered on TV.

Keane was annoyed with how Neville would call the likes of fellow United legend Wayne Rooney a “student of the game” and questioned what it offered to the analysis.

“I hear you’d be on the television and I know we will laugh about you go… Oh, you said Wayne Rooney’s a student of the game,” he said.

“We’re all students of the game. What? Wayne’s going to do… Scott Parker’s a student of the game.

“And people say to me – I don’t mean them two – ‘Oh, they come across really well.’ What, in an interview after they’ve been beaten? Well, that’s great that.”

Neville’s reaction to Keane’s callout

Neville hilariously admitted that Keane was irked by his line of punditry and the former United midfielder said it back to him “about 400 times.”

“So, I’ve made the mistake of saying student of the game on television once,” he said.

“I think he said it about 400 times to me in the last three months.”

Keane remained firm on his position about the remarks about being a “student of the game,” with the former United star dropping another rant at the time.

The former Sunderland and Ipswich Town boss proceeded to call out Neville for saying that ex-United star Phil Neville “loves the game.”

Responding to Neville, Keane said: “But we’re all students of the game!

“I know you’ve got to say something to [the] television. People go, you said what you said about Phil. Phil loves the game. We all love the game.

“Do you think Phil loves the game more than me? I’m not knocking Phil, but if people on the television go, ‘Someone loves it,’ let me tell you if you’re going to go into management of coaching you better love the game.”
