Romano says United have decided to keep Dalot
Manchester United have made a decision on Diogo Dalot’s future.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Portugal international will stay at Old Trafford beyond the end of the transfer window.
He said that there has been an approach for Dalot from Borussia Dortmund as well as other clubs.
But United are not letting Dalot leave, and he looks set to be Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s deputy this season.
Update on Trippier
United’s decision to keep Dalot around means that the summer’s pursuit of Kieran Trippier is apparently over.
Signing him would only make sense if Dalot goes. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hope the Portugal man can offer attacking thrust from right-back.
Atletico Madrid have never been realistic or pragmatic with Trippier’s asking price, given the fact he has one year left on his contract.
…and it means that unless there are unexpected proposals or moves, Kieran Trippier will not join Manchester United this summer. Atletico Madrid were always asking €40m price tag – it’s never been really ‘close’. 🔴🚫 #MUFC #Atleti

That contract situation raises the prospect that United will go back in for Trippier on a free next year.
Unless he signs a new deal, he will be free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with United from January onward.
But United’s decision on that will be influenced by how Dalot gets on this season.
He had a decent loan spell at Milan in 2020/21 and that has earned Dalot a shot at Old Trafford this term. It’s up to him to take his chance when it comes his way.
