Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has shared his brilliant reaction to former Tottenham star Harry Kane’s scintillating start to life at Bayern Munich.

The Red Devils were heavily linked with a move for Kane last summer, with the Bayern striker ready to call it time on his playing career at Tottenham.

However, United’s pursuit of the 30-year-old England star came to an end after Bayern entered the race and snapped him up for an initial £82m fee from Spurs.

Kane has enjoyed a sensational run in Germany so far, with the former United target scoring an impressive 17 times in 11 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern.

The former Spurs striker scored a stunning hat-trick earlier this month in Bayern’s 4-0 steamrolling of rivals Borussia Dortmund at the Westfalenstadion.

Ahead of the international break with England, Kane scored a superb brace in Bayern’s 4-2 win over FC Heidenheim at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.

Ferdinand’s reaction to Kane’s goalscoring rampage

Kane has become the first player in history to score 17 times in the opening 11 matches in a Bundesliga season.

The England captain, who revealed a United legend was an inspiration for his Bayern move, also overtook Robert Lewandowski’s tally of 16 from 11 fixtures in 2019.

Speaking on his VIBE with FIVE show on YouTube, Ferdinand was in awe at Kane’s hat-trick against Dortmund in Der Klassiker.

“His third hat-trick!” Ferdinand said.

“Every time I see Harry Kane’s name come up with the match ball and a hat-trick, I puke inside my mouth.

“I’m thinking, why — why?! — did we [United] not go and get him?”

United turned to Rasmus Hojlund instead of Kane

Ahead of Kane’s arrival at Bayern, United upped their pursuit of Rasmus Hojlund and landed the Denmark striker for a £72m transfer fee from Serie A outfit Atalanta.

Hojlund has struggled to break his goalscoring drought in the Premier League so far, but the 20-year-old Danish star has made his mark in the Champions League.

United manager Erik ten Hag was desperate to add a new striker to his forward options in the summer and Hojlund fit the build for what he wants at United.

The former Ajax boss is being patient with Hojlund and has faith that the Denmark international will turn things around at Old Trafford.
