Manchester United ended their winter transfer window without any fireworks in terms of players, with a couple of loan players plus Marcus Rashford headlining the deadline day.
The window might be done with, but that doesn’t mean Man Utd can’t strengthen anymore, since players brought on a free transfer can be registered any time.
Ineos have been patient and precise about not wanting to throw money at their problems anymore so a bargain could be worth considering.

Rio Ferdinand has suggested United a World Cup winner who’s available for free, he would have invited him to train at Carrington.

Rio Ferdinand gives Man Utd Paul Pogba suggestion
Paul Pogba has been a free agent since his contract with Juventus was mutually terminated early this year.
He is set to be out of football until March when his ban will be over and he can return to playing competitive football.
In the meantime, he is free to sign with a team and train with them to ramp up his match fitness so Man Utd have been linked, especially as he would have a clear role in Ruben Amorim’s structure (left-sided attacking midfielder).
Rio Ferdinand was speaking on his YouTube channel and suggested that he would have invited Pogba to train at the club in a move that would put United in a no-lose position.
He said: “I’d say to Pogba, ‘Come in and train with us, let me see what you’ve got’. I’d do that. I would have done that already. Come in and get fit, but I’d also have a look [if he’s in a position to be re-signed].”
Paul Pogba ship should be waved goodbye
It is tempting to look at a player of Pogba’s talent and think if he can contribute again, especially as United’s attacking depth has been decimated in two transfer windows.
Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Facundo Pellistri, Antony, and Mason Greenwood have left in these two windows alone, with Anthony Elanga leaving a year earlier.
Pogba could easily come in and fitness permitting, get a few games here and there due to the sheer lack of options at Amorim’s disposal.
However, if there’s one thing Amorim has shown so far, it’s that he’d rather have a depleted squad and lose games than walk back on his principles and play a player who doesn’t suit him, a la Rashford.
Add to that the wages Pogba will command and the thought of him returning (Again!) to Old Trafford should be best left a fantasy.
It’s just not worth the circus again.
