Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has admitted that he would have made his feelings clear to one player in the locker room after the 2-2 draw against Liverpool.
Ruben Amorim’s men ended 2024 in a disappointing run of form after Manchester United lost four consecutive matches across all competitions.
However, United bounced back from their 2-0 defeat to Newcastle at Old Trafford in December 2024 with a superb showing against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
The Red Devils took the lead in the second half after Lisandro Martinez netted against Liverpool before Cody Gakpo struck back for the Reds.
Liverpool were then awarded a penalty and Mohamed Salah stepped up and beat Andre Onana from the spot-kick to put the Reds 2-1 up against United.
Ruben Amorim didn’t walk away from the match empty-handed after Amad Diallo cancelled out Mohamed Salah’s penalty and netted United’s crucial equaliser.

Ferdinand on Man Utd star vs Liverpool
Manchester United are 13th in the Premier League table and Ruben Amorim’s men are a whopping 13 points adrift from fourth-place Chelsea.
The Red Devils have only won six matches from 20 Premier League fixtures and United are only seven points clear of the relegation zone.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand dropped his two cents on the final moments of the Liverpool match and the moment United could have snatched a win.
Bruno Fernandes played Joshua Zirkzee through in injury time and the United summer signing opted to square the ball to Harry Maguire instead of taking a shot.
Joshua Zirkzee’s pass bobbled on its way to an unmarked Harry Maguire and the United defender proceeded to blaze the ball over the Liverpool crossbar.
Ferdinand admitted that he would have had some strong words for the 23-year-old Netherlands and United striker if he were in the same dressing room as him.
When asked if Zirkzee would have apologised to Maguire after the match, he said on Rio Ferdinand Presents: “After all of it, I would have gone in the changing room and gone, ‘Bruv, what type of stupidness was that?! What type of pass was that?! We could have won the game!’
“But Zirkzee is lacking in confidence, so he [Maguire] ain’t going to do that. It’s detail, bro.
“You know what it’s like? Talk to somebody like you want to be talked to. Pass how you want to receive. Same thing.”
Amorim stands behind Man Utd star Zirkzee
Joshua Zirkzee has been met with criticism since his arrival at Old Trafford last summer after his struggling form in the final third in his debut season in England.
However, the Netherlands international was backed by United manager Amorim over the “perfect decision” he made by passing to Harry Maguire in injury time.
“For me, I think it was the perfect decision because he can shoot but he put the ball more in the centre for one guy is running back,” Amorim said at his post-match press conference.
“The ball I think was really slow for Harry to score, but sometimes you can not do it. But Josh made a good decision in my opinion.”
