Rashford says Sancho can give England an edge against Germany

Marcus Rashford has talked up reported Manchester United target Jadon Sancho.

England will face Germany tomorrow evening at Wembley and of course Sancho plies his trade in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund.

As per ESPN, Rashford feels that experience of German football could make Sancho a key player at Wembley.

Neither Sancho nor Rashford have started a game at Euro 2020 yet but their pace could be vital on the counter-attack against the Germans.

Rashford was asked whether Sancho could be England’s most important player against Germany and said: “In a way, yeah, because he’s played a lot of football against them, more than the rest of us.

“He knows the players, their characteristics, strengths and weaknesses and he’s definitely someone that can exploit them. If one thing doesn’t quite work we have a big opportunity to change things and adapt in the game.

“Adaptability is one of the biggest skills in football and there’s a lot of times in a game where you have to change or tweak something slightly to hurt your opponents.

“The fact that he’s played against them a lot, he’s hurt them a lot as well, it will be a big factor for us.”

Sancho’s summer yet to ignite

Sancho hasn’t really had a chance to show what he can do at Euro 2020 so far.

A very short cameo against the Czech Republic is the limit of his involvement and he probably won’t start tomorrow night.

But he could be key off the bench, especially if he is familiar with the weaknesses of the German players, as England look to set up a quarter-final clash against either Sweden or the Ukraine.

It would be a hell of a summer for Sancho if he made his mark at a major tournament before sealing a big-money move to Old Trafford – but he’s still waiting to spark into life at the Euros.
