Man Utd fans all saying same thing about Joshua Zirkzee after performance vs Bournemouth, two major complaints emerge

Manchester United fans dropped their two cents on Joshua Zirkzee after the Dutch forward’s performance against Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Ruben Amorim secured three important points last weekend with Manchester United’s 2-1 comeback win against Manchester City at the Etihad.

However, the 39-year-old Portuguese manager then oversaw United’s exit from the Carabao Cup after a 4-3 defeat to Tottenham in the quarter-finals on Thursday.

Ruben Amorim, who was appointed United boss in November, picked up two wins, one draw and two defeats in the Premier League ahead of the Bournemouth match.

United have had a disastrous start to the 2024-25 Premier League season under former Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag, who was sacked in late October.

Zirkzee leads Man Utd frontline vs Bournemouth

Ruben Amorim made the big decision to drop Rasmus Hojlund to the bench after the 4-3 loss to Tottenham and started Joshua Zirkzee ahead of him on Sunday.

Zirkzee arrived at Old Trafford in the summer after Manchester United signed the 23-year-old Netherlands striker from Serie A outfit Bologna.

However, the former Bologna man has struggled to make an impact in the final third for United, with Zirkzee netting only four times across all competitions this season.

Zirkzee has managed six starts in 17 league appearances in his debut season at Old Trafford so far, with the United summer signing coming under criticism for his form.

Amorim deployed Zirkzee as the lone striker against Bournemouth and Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes both operated as the two No 10s behind the Dutch forward.

The Netherlands international struggled to make any real impact in the first half and was partly at fault for Bournemouth’s opener from a set piece.

Dean Huijsen buried a header past Andre Onana by beating Zirkzee to the ball after Ryan Christie floated in a cross from his free-kick on the right of the touchline.

Zirkzee offered very little early in the second half before Amorim finally made the call to pull him off in the 54th minute and replaced him with Rasmus Hojlund

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, slammed Zirkzee’s lack of contribution for the Red Devils against Bournemouth.

Red Devils supporters complained about Zirkzee’s lack of pace, while other United fans lambasted the player’s non-existent physical presence in the match.

“Zirkzee just does not have the pace for the Premier League,” one fan argued.

Another added: “Zirkzee [was] defending with hopes and dreams in place of strength and determination.”

Someone else commented: “I’ll [say] something about Zirkzee now. His play style doesn’t suit the intensity of the [Premier League]. Not one bit.”

“Zirkzee makes running look hard. Rasmus [Hojlund] [is] 10 times more effective,” a fourth X user wrote.

While a fifth tweeted: “United need [Rasmus] Hojlund, Zirkzee is too slow to start as a [No] nine in this system.”

“Zirkzee is too slow for [the Premier League]. He’s never going to make it,” another claimed.

Somebody else posted: “Zirkzee is over six foot and has no physical presence.”

An eighth simply said: “Zirkzee is like 6’3” and has no physical presence – just sell him, man.”
