Paul Scholes has made his feelings perfectly clear on what he expects from the upcoming Europa League final clash between Manchester United and Tottenham.

Manchester United reached the Europa League final and the Red Devils will travel to Spain for an all-English encounter with fellow Premier League side Tottenham.

Ruben Amorim’s men punched their ticket to Bilbao for 21st May after Manchester United defeated La Liga outfit Athletic Club 4-1 in the second leg of the semi-finals.

United comfortably beat 10-man Athletic Club in the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals earlier this month at the San Mames Stadium in Spain.

Following United’s first-leg advantage over Athletic Club in Bilbao, the Red Devils hosted the Spanish side at Old Trafford and Ruben Amorim’s side came from behind.

United must lift the Europa League trophy in the 2025 final at the San Mames Stadium if the Red Devils want to return to European football for next season.

The 2024-25 Europa League run is United’s only viable route back to the Champions League for the 2025-26 campaign after a lacklustre Premier League season.

What Premier League legend Paul Scholes expects Man Utd to do vs Tottenham in the 2025 Europa League final

Ruben Amorim could still sign off a turbulent season at Old Trafford with his first piece of major silverware as Manchester United manager before the campaign is out.

Tottenham ensured their place in the 2025 Europa League final after Spurs defeated Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt both home and away in the two-leg semi-final.

Spurs, much like United, have endured a woeful Premier League campaign and Ange Postecoglou’s men are 17th and only one point behind the Red Devils in the league.

Paul Scholes spoke about United’s forthcoming Europa League encounter and the former Red Devils midfielder has tipped Amorim’s men to beat Tottenham in Bilbao.

The 50-year-old United legend has suggested that he could see the Red Devils once again finding a period of a “10- or 15-minute” spell when they take control of the tie.

“I have no logical reason why United should win it, other than recent experience and history,” Scholes said on The Overlap.

“Look at Real Madrid in the last five years. They’ve not been a great team at times, but that history just takes them to it.

“Realistically, they should win it, they’ve beaten us [in] the last three games. I think you’ll probably be the best team on the night, play really well, but we’ll win.

“We seem to find 10- or 15-minute spells where we win games. I think that’s what’ll happen.”

Ruben Amorim’s feelings were made clear about the 2025 Europa League final between Man Utd and Tottenham

Amorim insisted that United’s return to the Champions League for next season is more important to him than lifting major silverware as Red Devils boss this season.

Speaking at his pre-Europa League final press conference on Wednesday, he said (via Manchester United’s official website): “Personally, for me, I think Champions League is more important, for everything.

“To prepare [for] the next season. We are supposed to be in the Champions League, Europa League here is not enough.

“You have that feeling here. This is the best way to help us get in the top in a few years, is Champions League, not the title or the cup.

“So, for me, [the] Champions League is more important.”

United will face Chelsea in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Friday evening ahead of meeting Tottenham in the Europa League final on 21st May in Bilbao.
