Paul Scholes has just agreed with wild Marcus Rashford claim that Erik ten Hag called ‘crazy’

Marcus Rashford’s name flooded the headlines after he was left out of Manchester United’s starting lineup against Crystal Palace.

Marcus Rashford ended a six-month goal drought with a curling effort in the 3-0 win over Southampton, and he added another two to his tally in the emphatic win over Barnsley.

Just days later, Erik ten Hag decided to start Rashford on the bench with Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo preferred out wide.

The decision sparked controversy, with Jamie Redknapp making a wild claim that “there’s obviously something that happened” behind the scenes.

Ten Hag responded in his press conference and called Redknapp’s claim “crazy” as he explained that his decision was simply due to rotation.

Paul Scholes has now given his verdict and he also believes there is more to Ten Hag’s Rashford decision.

Paul Scholes on Marcus Rashford decision

The decision to leave Rashford out of the trip to Selhurst Park wasn’t that surprising given that Garnacho has been in incredible form and Amad started on the bench vs Barnsley.

However, the decision has been blown completely out of proportion and Scholes has now added to the controversy.

After it was pointed out that Manchester United have missed 17 big chances this season, Scholes said on The Overlap: “That probably tells you that the forwards maybe just aren’t good enough.

“Leaving Rashford out on Saturday, he’s been up to something hasn’t he.

“Come on, he’s not scored for such a long time and all of a sudden he comes and scores three goals in two games and he’s not playing?

“He [Ten Hag] said it was rotation, do me a favour.”

Marcus Rashford can silence his critics this season

Ten Hag has shown in the past that he will discipline players if needed. Evidence of that is when Rashford was dropped for being late.

The United manager has made no suggestion that his decision to drop Rashford was anything other than tactical.

United have three wingers all in good form and Ten Hag is understandably rotating and trying to keep all three fresh and hungry.

The media spotlight on Rashford shows why Jadon Sancho failed at Old Trafford. There is speculation being made out of nothing, and Scholes has not helped matters here.
