Paul Scholes completely disagrees with Ruben Amorim with two-word claim after Man United’s 3-0 win

Manchester United’s Europa League semi-final against Athletic Club is only at the halfway point.

A dominant 3-0 victory over Athletic Club has given Manchester United a huge advantage ahead of the second leg at Old Trafford next week.

United fans loved Casemiro’s performance, with the five-time Champions League winner showing his vast experience on the European stage when he nodded the visitors into the lead.

Bruno Fernandes ran the show from then on, scoring a quickfire double to put United in complete control of the tie.

The Red Devils are now just 90 minutes away from reaching the Europa League final.

Paul Scholes disagrees with Ruben Amorim over second leg

Unsurprisingly, Harry Maguire urged United to stay focused after the 3-0 win in Bilbao, insisting that there is still plenty at stake in the second half.

Ruben Amorim drilled the same message in his post-match comments, stating “this is not done”.

However, it seems United legend Paul Scholes has quite the opposite view. Speaking on TNT Sports after the match, the former midfielder suggested that United have the tie wrapped up.

“At Old Trafford, we saw what we saw two or three weeks ago, you’d expect them to have enough to handle that first 20 minutes,” Scholes said.

It was then pointed out that out of 133 teams to have scored three or more goals in the first leg of a game, all 133 have gone on to qualify.

After hearing that stat, Scholes added: “It’s done, it’s done.”

Man United must keep focus in Europa League

United have been victims of complacency far too often in recent years. Just last year, United threw away a 3-0 lead to Coventry City in the FA Cup and scraped through on penalties.

Even this season, United threw away a lead to Porto and have struggled to see out games in the Premier League.

Athletic Club will hold nothing back at Old Trafford and Amorim’s side has to be ready to match their intensity again.

United’s season hinges on winning the Europa League, and another strong performance next week should help confidence levels if they reach the final.

The showpiece, back in Bilbao, is set to be held on May 21st.
