Paul Scholes has admitted that he would have brought one Manchester United-linked player to Old Trafford “tomorrow” if he had the chance to sign him in the summer.
Ruben Amorim ended the month of August with his first win as Manchester United manager in the 2025-26 Premier League campaign after a mixed start to the season.
The Red Devils are ninth in the Premier League table amid the September international break after United’s late 3-2 win over Burnley at Old Trafford.
United manager Ruben Amorim received another major positive entering the month of September, with the Red Devils making their fifth – and final – summer signing.
The Red Devils finally landed a new shot-stopper for the 40-year-old Portuguese coach after United signed Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on Monday.
Senne Lammens completed his move to United on deadline day, with United paying the Belgian Pro League side an initial fee of £18.1m and agreeing to add-ons as well.

Paul Scholes makes a clear-cut Man Utd point after Man City signed Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG on deadline day
Manchester United were linked with several different shot-stoppers in the summer window, including Gianluigi Donnarumma and Aston Villa star Emiliano Martinez.
However, the Red Devils settled on the signing of former Royal Antwerp star Senne Lammens and ended their reported interest in World Cup winner Emiliano Martinez.
Gianluigi Donnarumma was subject to United’s transfer interest, but the former Paris Saint-Germain No 1 ultimately signed for rivals Manchester City on deadline day.
Speaking on The Overlap, TNT Sports pundit Paul Scholes made his position clear that he would have taken Manchester City’s latest signing in a heartbeat at United.
“I think that’s a really strange signing for Pep [Guardiola],” he said.
“I love the ‘keeper [Donnarumma], I think he’s brilliant and I’d have him at United tomorrow, today, whenever.”
Man Utd legend Paul Scholes’ reaction to the transfer fee that Man City paid for former PSG star Gianluigi Donnarumma
Gianluigi Donnarumma’s arrival at the Etihad marked the end of Ederson’s tenure at Manchester City, with the Brazilian completing a move to Turkish side Fenerbahce.
The Italy international has inked a deal with the Premier League club until 2030 and City reportedly paid £30.4m (€35m) to sign Donnarumma from PSG this summer.
United legend Scholes insisted that Donnarumma is an “unbelievable” player for the price that Pep Guardiola’s side paid to land the 26-year-old Italian shot-stopper.
“For £40m [reported price], he’s unbelievable,” he added.
“But for Pep, you’ve got to almost be able to play in central midfield as a goalkeeper.
“I think that’s the reason [Luis] Enrique is getting rid of him at PSG because he’s not great with his feet. I just don’t see him as a [Man] City goalkeeper.”
Donnarumma had become surplus to requirements at PSG after he fell down the pecking order, with the club also signing Lucas Chevalier from Lille in the summer.
