Manchester United left it late on deadline day to announce Senne Lammens as the fifth major signing of the window.
Three hours after the official deadline had passed, Manchester United announced Senne Lammens had signed from Royal Antwerp.
United paid £18m for Lammens, with Ineos choosing to pursue the 23-year-old ahead of more experienced options such as Emiliano Martinez or Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The Belgian shot-stopper becomes the fifth major signing of the summer and takes spending this window to over £200 million.

Senne Lammens’ first words after joining Man United
It was made clear months ago that Lammens pushed to join United this summer, with the goalkeeper sitting out of Antwerp’s league matches ahead of his move.
It has been important for Ineos to only sign players who desperately want to be at Old Trafford, and Senne Lammens certainly ticks that box.
In his first words as a United player, Lammens said: “I am extremely proud to be joining Manchester United; it is a real dream come true.
“The past few years have been an amazing journey; it’s now ended in an incredible destination and hopefully the beginning of something special.
“You can feel the positive atmosphere that is being created here, and I know that I can make a real impact at the club in the coming years. I cannot wait to get to know my team-mates and begin working with Ruben and the coaching staff.
“This is the perfect place to keep developing, grow together with this exciting team and achieve my career objectives.”
Senne Lammens pointed out Man United atmosphere
There has been a recurring theme this summer of players and pundits speaking about an improved environment around United.
The new £50m renovation to Carrington certainly helps matters, but even during the 2025 pre-season tour, Rio Ferdinand raved about United’s mood around the camp, with the squad growing closer than seen in previous years.
After making his move to United, it is interesting that Lammens also mentioned that in his first comment.
It is the ultimate compliment to Ruben Amorim and his coaching staff, who have managed to foster a brilliant environment despite having finished 15th in the Premier League last season.

Even after a mediocre start to the season where pressure was applied to Amorim early on, the squad has stuck together and looks stronger than ever.
That will only get better now that Lammens has arrived.
