Paul Scholes makes U-turn on Ruben Amorim assessment after Man Utd’s comeback result against Lyon in the Europa League
Manchester United are through to the semi-finals of the Europa League and the Red Devils will now face La Liga club Athletic Bilbao across two legs in May.

Paul Scholes claimed after United and Lyon’s clash in France that Ruben Amorim ‘did not like his team’ after the Red Devils blew a 2-1 lead in the Europa League tie.
The 50-year-old United legend made a U-turn on his original remarks, but Scholes insisted that Amorim now does not ‘enjoy watching‘ his current first team in action.
“I said last week Ruben Amorim didn’t like his team, it’s probably the wrong word, I don’t think he enjoys watching this team,” he told TNT Sports, as per BBC Sport.
“He got that excitement tonight. This is the Europa League, imagine the Champions League, the big games.
“The atmosphere, if he builds a team that can compete, it’ll be twice that.”
Paul Scholes’ reaction to Man Utd’s dramatic 5-4 result vs Lyon in the Europa League clash at Old Trafford
Scholes was left in awe at United’s comeback against Lyon after the Red Devils were on the verge of crashing out of the Europa League on Thursday evening.
“You’ve seen special things happen at this club,” he said.
“I think back to the Ole Gunnar [Solskjaer] against Liverpool. It reminded me slightly, I know that’s only 2-1 and this was 5-4.
“I always feel like when you get one here you’ve got a chance.”
United will now return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon against Wolves, with kick-off slated for 2pm UK time at Old Trafford.
