Phil Jones and Paul Scholes spent over 30 years as Manchester United players before hanging up their boots.
In 2023, Manchester United decided not to hand a new contract to the now 33-year-old, so Phil Jones retired and turned his attention towards coaching.
He made 229 appearances for United before calling an end to his career, which was plagued by injuries in his final years as a player.
United fans compared Luke Shaw to Jones recently as a result of their unfortunate injury problems. Jones suffered a relapse of his long-standing knee issue under Erik ten Hag.
Sir Alex Ferguson once predicted that Jones could have been United’s “best-ever player”, but sadly it didn’t work out. One player who is in that debate, though, is Paul Scholes, who spent his entire career with United making 716 appearances.

Phil Jones and Paul Scholes wins trophy in new sport
Scholes won a staggering 11 Premier League titles to go alongside three FA Cups, two Champions League trophies and two League Cups. Jones won one Premier League title as well as an FA Cup and the Europa League.
The former United duo have now added a new trophy to their cabinet after teaming up for a golf tournament.
Both Jones and Scholes were part of a star-studded England team that participated in the “Icons Series”.
Jones took to Instagram to celebrate the win on Tuesday afternoon: “Incredible few days playing in the Icons Series in Thailand.
“Nice to catch up with some old teammates & meet some new people & Fans. Big Thanks to Lee Westwood for bailing me out on the last”
Former Man United stars thrive in different sports
It seems Jones and Scholes are enjoying some of their free time in retirement playing golf alongside the likes of John Terry, Theo Walcott, Joe Hart and Paul Ince.
They are not the only former United stars who have dabbled in a different sport.
Diego Forlan debuted in professional tennis back in October having played the sport growing up with his father and brother – who also played.
According to The Sun, Marcus Rashford took up boxing and Muay Thai to help keep in shape – a hobby that Ruben Amorim also takes part in.
