Paul Scholes and Owen Hargreaves appeared on the same wavelength after Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw against Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
Erik ten Hag’s men travelled to Istanbul and the Red Devils were unable to pick up their first Europa League win of the season, despite leading in the first half.
Christian Eriksen broke the deadlock for Manchester United in the 15th minute and the Red Devils took a 1-0 lead into half-time in Turkey.
However, Fenerbahce rallied back under former United manager Jose Mourinho and Youssef En-Nesyri cancelled out Christian Eriksen’s opener in the second half.
United have only managed to collect three points from a possible nine in their opening three Europa League matches of the season under Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hag’s side kicked off the Europa League campaign last month against Dutch side FC Twente and United were held to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
United then travelled to the Estadio do Dragao earlier this month and secured a 3-3 comeback draw against Porto in Portugal after blowing a 2-0 lead in the first place.

Scholes’ stance on Man Utd and Europa League
Manchester United are currently 21st in the Premier League table as part of the league-phase format for the Europa League, which was introduced this season.
The Red Devils will play eight matches – four at home and four away – as part of their bid to secure a place in the knockout rounds of the Europa League.
Speaking on TNT Sports, Paul Scholes insisted that United are in a “terrible position” in the Europa League and believes the Red Devils must do better in their campaign.
“They’re in a terrible position in the Europa League, they’ve got to start winning games soon,” he said.
“But a point overall is not too bad I don’t think. I think on the face of it, going to Turkey, it’s not easy going to Fenerbahce, it’s a tough place to go. So, a draw, you’d probably take it before the game.
“Obviously, you want to go there and win and the position they find themselves in the league at this point isn’t great. But the last two results you have to say, Porto away, a tough place to go, good draw. Fenerbahce away, good draw.
“It’s the home game that was really disappointing, I suppose. The Twente game, you should be beating those teams, then this looks like almost a better result.
“I thought there were two really good goals in the game. Do we question Onana maybe? Could he have come for the goal? I’m not sure, it seemed like a really good goal from Saint-Maximin. United scored a really good goal.
“I thought the last half an hour was really poor from both teams. Nothing seemed to happen since the goal.”
Hargreaves reacts to Scholes’ Man Utd comments
United will resume their Premier League campaign on Sunday with an away trip to West Ham before facing Leicester City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
Erik ten Hag’s side won’t return to action in the Europa League until 7th November when they host Greek side PAOK at Old Trafford.
Owen Hargreaves felt the same way as former United teammate Scholes about the Fenerbahce result and the Red Devils’ Europa League season so far.
“Not good. Three games, three points is not good enough. I think today, that was a fair result,” he said.
“You look at the 1-1 and the stats, they’re all quite similar. I don’t think there was much in the game.
“Both teams looked like they were quite content with the 1-1 at the end. That’s why maybe not much happened in the last 30 minutes.
“I don’t think, right now, United can expect to go there and win a game like that, especially with some of the injuries that they have.
“It seemed fair but if you think about three games, three points, that’s not what anybody would have expected at this point.”
