Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt saw eye to eye on whether Manchester United should try to sign Elliot Anderson or Carlos Baleba in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are expected to commit to a major summer overhaul of the Red Devils midfield, with Casemiro leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Manuel Ugarte’s future is also uncertain at the Premier League club, while Kobbie Mainoo is part of the Red Devils’ plans for their first-team midfield rebuild.

Both Elliot Anderson and Carlos Baleba have been linked with United in the past and Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt have now had their say on the two talented midfielders.

Elliot Anderson is under contract with Nottingham Forest until 2029 and the 23-year-old midfielder is tipped to leave the Premier League club in the summer window.

Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt sent a clear-cut message to Man Utd over Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba

United were linked with Carlos Baleba last summer and the Red Devils had shown an interest in bringing the 22-year-old Cameroonian midfielder to Old Trafford.

However, Baleba had been valued at over £100m in 2025 and the Red Devils’ immediate desire to sign the Cameroon international cooled down.

Baleba, who is under contract with Brighton until 2028, has been with the Seagulls since 2023 after the Man Utd-linked player was signed from French side Lille.

Unlike Anderson, Scholes and Butt both responded with a resounding “no” over whether United should rekindle their transfer interest in Brighton’s Baleba.
