Omar Berrada has issued a statement on how Manchester United will approach the transfer window.
With under a fortnight since the 2025/26 season finished, United have already agreed a deal to sign Ederson from Atalanta.
More signings are expected, and the chief executive wants the club to repeat the success of summer 2025, where all four signings were major successes, with three joining from Premier League clubs.
He has promised two things to fans; that the club will not overpay for players, and they will be flexible when it comes to opportunities for incomings and outgoings.
Berrada also explained that in terms of age profile, United want a ‘mix of experience and youth’.
What is your INSTANT REACTION to Manchester United’s deal for Ederson?

Berrada on transfers
Omar Berrada told United’s Inside Carrington podcast: “The template for what we did last summer will be replicated.
“You never know how you will come out of a window. You have to be really prepared, you have to have a clear plan, you have to know what positions you want to strengthen and you also have to be prepared for any eventuality.
“There could be exits you weren’t expecting or opportunities that weren’t there at the beginning of the window. We have to be agile and flexible.
“We have a clear plan. Jason Wilcox and his team are well set up to execute that plan.
“What we saw last season is a good way forward for us.
“We want a mix of experience and youth. A mix of players who have demonstrated they can perform in the Premier League and players that are doing very well outside the Premier League.
“Whatever decisions we take will not just be for the short term but the long term.”
Now the Ederson deal is agreed… WHO SHOULD BE MAN UTD’S NEXT TARGET?
Let us know who should be signing number two…
Ederson transfer already shows opportunism
Omar Berrada’s words about Manchester United’s need to be agile in the market have already been proven.
United snapped up Ederson as a market opportunity, with the Brazilian having only one year remaining on his Atalanta contract.
Ineos have also proven that they will not overpay for players, in successive summers.
In 2025 they walked away from Everton’s excessive demands for Jarrad Branthwaite, and in 2025 they refused to pay Brighton’s ridiculous asking price for Carlos Baleba.
This is also a hint that United won’t be held to ransom by West Ham for Mateus Fernandes, or entertain getting into a crazy bidding war for Elliot Anderson.
Ineos have proven with their business last summer that they deserve a show of faith from supporters.
