Real Betis and Brazil winger Antony has revealed there was interest from one massive Premier League side ahead of his departure from Ajax and arrival at Manchester United.
The Red Devils splashed out in the 2022 transfer window to land Antony, who had impressed during his spell at Dutch side Ajax under Erik ten Hag.
Antony was reunited with ex-Ajax boss Erik ten Hag at the Premier League club, with Manchester United agreeing an eye-watering £81.3m deal for the player in 2022.
However, the 26-year-old Brazil star endured an ill-fated spell at Old Trafford before Man Utd successfully offloaded him last summer in a permanent sale.

What is your INSTANT REACTION to Manchester United’s deal for Ederson?
Real Betis star Antony could have signed for Liverpool ahead of Man Utd after his Ajax success
Antony lifted both a League Cup and an FA Cup under former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag during his playing spell in England.
However, not even Ten Hag could help Antony find his best Ajax form at the Red Devils and the Brazilian forward struggled to establish himself in the starting XI.
Antony was loaned out to Real Betis in the 2025-26 season before the La Liga club signed the former United winger for a £21.65m transfer fee last summer.
Speaking to the YouTube channel Podpah, Antony revealed that he could have played under former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp instead of Man Utd.
When asked about transfer offers outside of Man Utd, the Betis player said: “There were, man, there were from England, too.
“I think it’s worth mentioning at least one right; there was Liverpool at the time, which was Klopp’s team. Yeah, I think that is worth mentioning.”
Now the Ederson deal is agreed… WHO SHOULD BE MAN UTD’S NEXT TARGET?
Let us know who should be signing number two…
Antony’s first full season at Real Betis fails to secure him a place in the Brazil squad for the World Cup
Antony has continued his career revival in Spain at Real Betis after his initial successful spell on loan at the La Liga club under Manuel Pellegrini.
The former Ajax and Man Utd winger netted 14 times and registered 10 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions for the 2025-26 campaign at the club.
However, Antony was unable to turn the head of Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti for a place in the five-time World Cup champions’ 26-man squad this summer.
Carlo Ancelotti announced Brazil’s squad last month and Man Utd duo Matheus Cunha and Casemiro have both been called up to represent their country.
