Scott McTominay has received praise from a former Manchester United player after a major stat highlighted the Napoli midfielder’s impact across Europe’s top five leagues.

Scott McTominay made his exit from Old Trafford last summer and the 28-year-old former Manchester United midfielder completed a stunning move to Napoli.

Napoli signed McTominay from United for a transfer fee believed to be £25.7m in August 2024 and the United youth academy product has deeply impressed in Italy.

McTominay has established himself as a key player for Napoli manager Antonio Conte and the ex-United star has had a big impact in his debut season at the club.

The Napoli midfielder has netted an impressive 12 times and picked up six assists in 34 matches across all competitions for Antonio Conte’s men this season.

McTominay is now within touching distance of ending his debut campaign with major silverware at Napoli, with the Italian side pushing for the Serie A title.

Scott McTominay’s superb Napoli stat catches the eye of former Man Utd player Gordon Hill

Scott McTominay came through the Manchester United youth academy and was a mainstay in the United first team before he was sold to Serie A side Napoli in 2024.

Erik ten Hag had been a big fan of the Napoli player and the former United manager often used McTominay before he was sacked by the Red Devils last October.

Statman Dave on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, highlighted the superb numbers that McTominay has put up for Napoli in their league campaign.

McTominay has scored 11 times in 32 matches in the 2024-25 Serie A campaign amid Antonio Conte’s men challenging Italian side Inter Milan for the Scudetto.

According to Statman Dave, McTominay is the “one player” across Europe’s top five leagues this season to have netted double figures from central midfield.

Former United and England player Gordon Hill took to X and praised Napoli ace McTominay for his major feat at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium this season.

“Well done, Scott, you deserve it,” he wrote.
