Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund wasted no time making an impact in his first pre-season game.

Rasmus Hojlund promised to return to Manchester United on a mission, aiming to score as many goals as possible in 2024/25.

An early strike just 11 minutes into pre-season against Arsenal was the perfect start, showcasing him at his best.

Rasmus Hojlund latched onto a dangerous ball from Marcus Rashford, running at the Arsenal defence, before finishing in a clinical manner Ruud van Nistelrooy would have been proud of.

Rasmus Hojlund shows his strength

Rasmus Hojlund’s goal demonstrated his pace, along with his composure. The aspect which really stood out was his strength.

Hojlund went up against Arsenal defender Ayden Heaven, a talented prospect, but the gulf in class and experience was noticeable for the goal.

MUTV co-commentator Ben Thornley noted: “He just uses his power to maneuver him off balance, he does it once, twice there, and then he’s beaten the goalkeeper.”

Lead commentator Liam Bradford agreed: “He just couldn’t cope with the upper body strength of Rasmus Hojlund, he almost just shrugs him off.”

This is an aspect of his game that Hojlund must utilise more, while it was also a lesson the young Arsenal defender will have to learn from.

Rasmus Hojlund injury spoils positive

Rasmus Hojlund was on a high after his goal, but this proved shortlived, with the Dane suffering an injury minutes later.

He was taken off with just 15 minutes played, hobbling down the tunnel to be assessed by the club’s medical staff.

Teammate Jonny Evans said after the game that Hojlund appears to be nursing a hamstring injury, with manager Erik ten Hag explaining the injury is currently being assessed.

One thing we should expect is that Hojlund will not feature against Real Betis later this week. Even if he were to be passed fit, United must tread cautiously.
