Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has tried to put his excitement for the 2024/25 campaign into words.
Entering his second season at Manchester United, Rasmus Hojlund is gearing up for his first pre-season at the club.
After Hojlund’s transfer from Atalanta to Manchester United was negotiated and concluded late last July and early August, Hojlund was rested for the first three games of the season as a precaution over an existing back injury.
He did not play his first minutes for Manchester United until September, forced to get up to speed quickly, and this no doubt contributed to his early Premier League goal drought.
Now after finishing 2023/24 as Manchester United’s top scorer, Hojlund is looking ahead to next season – with a pre-season behind him.

Rasmus Hojlund excited
Rasmus Hojlund and Manchester United ended 2023/24 on a high with the FA Cup win over Manchester City, which made the troubled season all worth it.
Hojlund even finished with two goals in his last three games. While he had a difficult Euro 2024, he’s now raring to go at club level, as soon as he is allowed to return after his FIFA-mandated two week rest.
Hojlund posted a picture to Instagram tucking into a a huge steak on the bone, writing: “This is how hungry I am for the season to start.”
Hojlund’s post was greeted with much hilarity from his Manchester United teammates.
Mason Mount remarked simply, “Madman”, with Harry Maguire writing: “I hope that’s blackcurrant in that glass.”
Likely also in reference to Hojlund’s exuberant post- FA Cup final celebrations, Lisandro Martinez urged: “Enjoy your holidays and stay calm.”
When ‘The Butcher’ is urging you to calm down, that’s probably a sign…
Joshua Zirkzee set to join
Another piece of context to bear in mind behind Rasmus Hojlund’s message… Manchester United are on the cusp of signing another striker.
BBC Sport report a deal for Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee is imminent, with Manchester United finding a replacement for Anthony Martial.
This provides a little competition for Hojlund, but mainly it helps him out. United need to rotate through the season, while Zirkzee is the profile of forward who can play alongside him.
Crucially the deal is being done relatively early too, and Hojlund and Zirkzee could get the chance to play together during pre-season. No wonder the Dane is excited to get started.
