Roy Keane decided to criticise Bruno Fernandes after he made Premier League history but Michael Carrick’s comments prove why he is wrong.
During Manchester United’s 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest on the weekend, Bruno Fernandes equalled the Premier League assist record.
Fernandes produced his 20th assist of the season by setting up Bryan Mbeumo at Old Trafford, meaning he now shares the record with Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry.
However, United legend Roy Keane chose to criticise Fernandes, questioning his mentality and calling the narrative around his assist record a “circus act”.

This is certainly not the first time that Keane has launched a rant about Fernandes, and the former Red Devils captain refuses to give the Portuguese playmaker the credit he deserves.
As a result of his outstanding season, Fernandes was named FWA Footballer of the Year, and when he collected his award with Michael Carrick, the United head coach set the record straight.
“You all see the headlines with his creativity and performance he puts in to be consistent. It’s also how he lives his life,” Carrick said.
“We try and give him a day off and every day he comes in. He’s always at breakfast before me, eating scrambled eggs before me.”
Carrick has spoken highly of Fernandes all season, and everyone inside the club raves about Fernandes’ mentality and character.
