Michael Carrick has been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Season Award.
Despite only being appointed on a short-term basis in January 2026, Michael Carrick has been nominated for the Manager of the Season Award.
It is a huge nod to the Manchester United head coach’s achievements. He has taken the Red Devils from seventh place to third place, securing Champions League qualification.
Carrick has earned 33 points out of a possible 45 during his 15 games in charge so far.
These include 10 wins, three draws, and two defeats.

Manager of the Season nominees
The nominees for the Premier League Manager of the Season are as follows…
- Keith Andrews (Brentford)
- Mikel Arteta (Arsenal)
- Michael Carrick (Manchester United)
- Pep Guardiola (Manchester City)
- Andoni Iraola (Bournemouth)
- Regi Le Bris (Sunderland)
Title-challenging Arteta and Guardiola are expected to be favourites for the award, but it is worth noting Carrick has defeated both managers in his matches against them.
We don’t realistically believe Carrick will win the award, having only managed for half a season – it just speaks volumes that he was even nominated.

Carrick future being discussed
Michael Carrick was appointed as a placeholder after Ruben Amorim was fired, allowing the club to assess external options.
Carrick has put up such a strong case to keep the job that it feels inevitable he will now be appointed on permanent basis.
His nomination for Manager of the Season is another feather in his cap, strengthening the argument for him to be retained.
Talks are now stepping up between Carrick and the club for him to take charge heading into next season.
