Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards believes that Scott McTominay could sign for West Ham in January after praising the “really intelligent” Manchester United star.
McTominay has been representing Scotland during the international break and has been in red-hot form for his country during their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.
He scored in Scotland’s 3-1 win over Cyprus to take his goalscoring tally in Euro 2024 qualifiers to six, putting him alongside United teammate Rasmus Hojlund.
However, McTominay’s United future remains uncertain after falling down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag and battling for first-team minutes at the club.

Richards on McTominay’s future
McTominay was linked with Premier League side Fulham in the summer before he reportedly turned down a deadline-day move to Craven Cottage.
Richards has suggested that McTominay, who also attracted interest from Bayern Munich, could potentially move to West Ham as his next destination.
“West Ham we said, wasn’t it? It was West Ham. Yeah,” he said on The Rest Is Football podcast.
MORE UNITED STORIES
“I just think he’s a really intelligent, hard-working midfielder who can do a job whatever you tell him.
“It’s just the chaos that happens at Manchester United and because of the players they’ve had in the past they’re always comparing him to, ‘Oh, when we had [Roy] Keane or [Paul] Scholes,’ these sort of midfielders it’s always going to be difficult.
“But there is a player in there, I think he’s fantastic.”
Lineker confused by McTominay’s situation at United
McTominay, who is under contract with United until 2025, only made brief cameo appearances for the Red Devils against Wolves and Nottingham Forest.
The Scotland international was linked with the Hammers in the summer, but West Ham saw United reject a £30m bid that they tabled for McTominay.
Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker claimed the situation surrounding McTominay is “nuts” amid his scintillating form for Scotland.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football, he said: “I notice Scott McTominay playing and getting in the box a lot.
“He scored again in this game; he scored a couple in the game first time against Cyprus.
“He’s top scorer in qualifying. It’s nuts, yet he’s not really getting a look in at Manchester United. Someone will go for him surely?”
