Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards dropped a powerful verdict on Manchester United after Ruben Amorim’s men tasted defeat to Premier League side Brentford on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester United have only managed two Premier League wins from their opening six league matches in the 2025-26 campaign under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils’ only wins came with their 3-2 Premier League result over Burnley in August before United defeated 10-man Chelsea 2-1 at Old Trafford last Saturday.
United’s result over Chelsea in the Premier League last week had been seen as a much-needed confidence boost and momentum driver for the Brentford match.
The Red Devils visited the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday and Brentford comfortably defeated United 3-1 after a strong showing from Keith Andrews’ men.
Brentford were on top of United in the opening 20 minutes and the Bees had a 2-0 lead over the Red Devils after a stunning brace from forward Igor Thiago.

Following Igor Thiago’s brace on Saturday afternoon, Manchester United were handed a lifeline in the first half after Benjamin Sesko pulled one back for his side.
But United were unable to rally back against Brentford and were left to rue their chances, including Bruno Fernandes missing from the spot-kick in the second half.
The woes only deepened for the Red Devils in injury time after Mathias Jensen scored a stunning strike past Altay Bayindir from outside of the United box.
Speaking after Brentford’s 3-1 win over the Red Devils, Micah Richards was deeply critical of United manager Ruben Amorim and took aim at his tactics and approach.
“I think because Ruben Amorim is being so stubborn in what he’s trying to do, it could be the undoing of him down the line,” he told BBC Sport.
“We can talk about the owners backing him but ultimately it’s just not working.”
Ruben Amorim speaks to Man Utd fans after the Red Devils’ latest Premier League setback against Brentford
Under-pressure United head coach Amorim now faces an uphill battle in ensuring his place at Old Trafford is secure ahead of the October international break.
The Red Devils will host Sunderland at Old Trafford next Saturday before players head off to represent their respective countries for their World Cup qualifiers.
Amorim insisted that United fans want to see actions speak louder than words rather than trying to explain why the Red Devils underperformed against Brentford.
“The same thing. When we lose, we say sorry to them, but they don’t want to hear nothing [sic],” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“In this moment, they want to see, so our job is to fight again, to win the next one.”
United have lost three of their opening six Premier League matches in the 2025-26 campaign and Amorim’s men have only seven points from a possible 18 so far.
