Manchester United had few positives to take from Saturday’s 3-1 defeat against Brentford in the Premier League.
Ruben Amorim’s side missed the chance to win back-to-back games for the first time this season, losing 2-1 against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Thiago’s first-half brace gave the hosts a 2-0 lead, but Benjamin Sesko pulled one back for the Red Devils in the 26th minute.
Despite getting one back, United were unable to take anything from the game after a flat second half following the interval, despite being awarded a penalty kick with 15 minutes left on the clock.
Brentford made it 3-1 in stoppage time when Mathias Jensen scored from outside the box.

Winners
Benjamin Sesko
Although United didn’t get the result they desired, it was a relief to see Sesko open his account for the club. The Slovenian had two shots saved by Caoimhin Kelleher before eventually finding the back of the net.
Losers
Altay Bayindir
Despite making two or three impressive saves in the first half, Altay Bayindir committed a howler for Brentford’s second goal. The Turkish international has now failed to keep a single clean sheet in his six Premier League starts this season. Bayindir got nowhere near Jensen’s shot for the third goal.
Harry Maguire
Harry Maguire had his worst performance of the season. The England international was left isolated for Brentford’s opener when Thiago beat the offside trap before running in on goal without being contested by a defender. It was a performance he’ll want to forget.
Bruno Fernandes
It wasn’t the first game this season when Bruno Fernandes appeared to struggle in his role as one of United’s midfield two. The Portugal international spent most of the game chasing shadows and missed a spot kick in the 75th minute to make it 2-2.
Diogo Dalot
Although he’s only back in the team, Diogo Dalot struggled on the right flank. Brentford’s second goal came down his side. He was sloppy throughout and offered no support to United’s struggling midfield.
Ruben Amorim
The team selection didn’t help United this afternoon. Brentford exposed United’s lack of pace in defence with their direct style of attacking, while the midfield was non-existent and had no control over the game. It beggars belief why United recently signed a new goalkeeper, but Amorim persists with Bayindir. This is a result that will only put more pressure on United’s head coach.
