Manchester United fans’ telling reaction to Leny Yoro spoke volumes after the Red Devils returned to Premier League action against Brentford on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils travelled to the Gtech Community Stadium on the weekend on the back of Manchester United’s 2-1 Premier League win over Chelsea at Old Trafford.

United avoided a late comeback against Chelsea last Saturday after both the Red Devils and the Blues played the second half of the tie with 10 men apiece.

The Red Devils dominated the Blues in the first half and were 2-0 up against Chelsea after Robert Sanchez was sent off inside the opening five minutes at Old Trafford.

United suffered their own setback in the 2-1 result after Casemiro was sent off in first-half injury time, with the Brazil midfielder suspended for the Brentford match.

Ruben Amorim confirmed ahead of the Gtech Community Stadium that United would be without four players for the Premier League encounter against the Bees.

Leny Yoro’s Premier League performance against Brentford has Man Utd fans making their feelings perfectly clear

Leny Yoro came off the bench in the second half at the Gtech Community Stadium and Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim brought him on for Manuel Ugarte.

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, were baffled that Leny Yoro did not start and Amorim left his defence exposed with their lack of ‘pace.’

One X user said: “But Maguire on a high line is a ticking time boom [sic]. Yoro needs to come on so that we have speed across the whole team.”

“Maguire cannot cope with the pace. This is why Yoro should have started,” another added.

While a third United fan wrote: “This [match] screams [Leny] Yoro. Fast pace to sweeping the back line! I don’t want to see [the] Maguire [and] [Matthijs] De Ligt duo ever again. I’m not paying for this s—!”

Someone else posted: “Maguire, who has lost yards of pace, is starting for United instead of Yoro?”

“If we insist on such a high line, then Yoro needs to be starting and to be [a] sweeper because he’s the only one with pace,” a fifth Red Devils supporter tweeted.

Somebody else claimed: “De Ligt and Maguire [have] no pace… Guess what? They both started, then Yoro with [the] pace is sitting on the bench.”

And a seventh suggested: “Playing De Ligt [and] Maguire together is absolutely criminal [and] something not even a League [Two] manager would do. Not starting Yoro is Amorim’s call [and] it has cost us. No pace at the back.”

“He has to select Yoro over [Luke] Shaw or Maguire to inject some pace,” an eighth commented.

What happened in Man Utd’s Premier League clash vs Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium?

Brentford had an early impact against United inside the opening 10 minutes after the Red Devils’ defence switched off and forward Igor Thiago was played through.

Igor Thiago timed his run perfectly against Harry Maguire and the 24-year-old blasted his strike past a helpless Altay Bayindir into the top corner of the net.

Following Brentford’s opener in the eighth minute, the Bees built on their momentum and Thiago returned to complete his brace 12 minutes later.

Thiago laid the ball onto Kevin Schade and the German attacker burst into the United box and fired a powerful strike at the near post of Altay Bayindir’s net.

Bayindir was able to push the ball out, but it landed into the path of Thiago and the Brentford forward was able to squeeze his effort past the scrambling United star.

United finally pulled one back against Brentford after Caoimhin Kelleher failed to clear a looping Patrick Dorgu cross and Benjamin Sesko pounced on the opportunity.

Caoimhin Kelleher denied Benjamin Sesko twice from close range before United’s summer signing slammed home his third attempt into the back of the Brentford net.

Following Brentford’s 2-1 lead at half-time, United missed the chance to secure an equaliser in the 76th minute after Bruno Fernandes saw his spot-kick effort saved.

Brentford sealed all three Premier League points at the Gtech Community Stadium after Mathias Jensen scored deep into second-half injury time on Saturday.
