Media desperate to get rid of Erik ten Hag at Man Utd, one word keeps on being repeated

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is fighting to improve the club’s position in the Premier League.

And contrary to what the media would have you believe, Erik ten Hag is not fighting for his job.

There are no credible reports suggesting Erik ten Hag‘s future is in jeopardy. Yes, the club’s results must improve, the Champions League performances have been inadequate, and a seventh placed position in the Premier League is not where we want to be.

But as for actual suggestions Manchester United are considering Ten Hag’s future, that’s all make-believe right now.

That has not stopped the media from having a real good go at talking up Erik ten Hag’s sacking, long before it is even close to being a reality.

Media feed Erik ten Hag negativity

Look at these headlines published across various UK based websites over the past 24 hours, all containing the words Erik ten Hag and ‘sack’, all trying to get in there first long before it happens, or at our most cynical, suggest they are being deliberately misleading.

We get it. They want the attention. But all this does is fuel pressure, add to the toxic negativity around the boss. The media loves a crisis. Ten Hag called out a TNT Sports reporter last week when they admitted as such.

The manager has got enough problems going on as it is. And none of these were the ones banned by Erik ten Hag from his press conference…!

Manchester United fans must get behind Erik ten Hag

Erik ten Hag deserves his fair share of blame for the poor season. Yes, there have been injuries, but he has had a mountain of cash to spend over his first two seasons and has done so pretty poorly. At least a very average success rate.

We are not naive enough to say we don’t see the cycle of failure at Manchester United being repeated. The same leaks, poor results, poor spending, and in some cases same players, caused Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to get the boot.

Ten Hag needs results, and there’s a potentially dark timeline ahead with Liverpool away later this month after the Bayern Munich game. A match against his old rival Mauricio Pochettino tonight is tricky enough, and losing to Bournemouth at home at the weekend doesn’t bear thinking about. That will really see those headlines go into overdrive.

The fans need to get behind him, and ignore and discourage the attention-seeking claims he will be sacked. Let’s at least let him lose those games first! All the media are doing is adding to the fire and negativity, feeding a toxic cycle. When it’s time for Ten Hag to go, we’ll be opinionated enough to say it. We aren’t anywhere near there yet.
