Matheus Cunha can finally end miserable record vs Nottingham Forest with Man Utd

Matheus Cunha has been pivotal to Manchester United’s winning streak and he will hope to extend it with a win over Nottingham Forest this weekend.

In the 4-2 win over Brighton, Matheus Cunha scored his first goal for Manchester United, helping the Red Devils to secure a third consecutive win in the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim is delighted with Cunha and his performances. The Brazilian has hit the ground running in Manchester following his £62.5m move in the summer.

Not only has his attacking output been impressive, but Cunha’s defensive work is underrated, and he is quickly becoming a key member in Amorim’s squad and a favourite among fans.

There is little doubt that Matheus Cunha can expect to start again on Saturday when United travel to face Nottingham Forest.

Matheus Cunha hoping to end record vs Nottingham Forest

Forest did the double over United last season, so Amorim and his players will travel to the City Ground looking to avenge those results.

There will, of course, be several new faces in United’s squad compared to last season’s meetings, including Cunha.

But United’s new No.10 will also travel to Nottingham hoping to end a miserable record of his own.

In his four meetings against Forest, Cunha is yet to win a single game. Extraordinarily, all four of Cunha’s clashes against Forest have ended in a draw.

Wolves did lose 3-0 to Forest last season, but Cunha was serving a suspension and therefore wasn’t involved.

Matheus Cunha boasts impressive goal record vs Forest

While Cunha’s results against Forest are uninspiring heading into the weekend, his individual performances tell a different story.

In the 2023/24 campaign, Cunha scored twice in a 2-2 draw against Forest, including a magnificent solo-goal where he dribbled half the length of the pitch, spun a defender and shot the ball into the roof of the net.

Cunha also scored against Wolves in the reverse fixture that season, scoring his side’s only goal in a 1-1 draw.

It means he has scored three goals in four games against Forest – a record he will hope to build on when United visit on Saturday.
