Matheus Cunha has given Manchester United fans plenty of talking points to discuss with his first interview since completing his £62.5m transfer.

It is a signing that has gone under the radar as to just how incredible it might be.

Matheus Cunha is a superstar in the making and perfect for Manchester United from his style of play, to his character and also his understanding of the club.

In the interview on Friday, Cunha said he’s excited to play with Bruno Fernandes as the club captain is an example for all players in the Premier League.

Additionally, Cunha named Wayne Rooney as his United icon growing up, suggesting he will bring a similar style to Old Trafford, albeit with a Samba twist.

While speaking, Cunha also revealed that his move to United was emotional and that when approached he had the easiest decision to make and that was to join the Red Devils.

The Brazilian also spoke on why he is perfectly suited to being a United player.

The interview was shared by United on MUTV and it fully captured Cunha’s character which seems perfect for the club, as his confidence is matched with maturity in a way akin to Fernandes.

Cunha is a player with great belief in himself and when asked if he can shoulder the pressure that comes with playing for the world’s biggest club, his answer was immediate.

“I am so free from that honestly. I think I’m grateful to be part of the biggest national team in the world. The pressure there is also huge and I learned a lot.

“In the beginning it was a little bit difficult in parts for me to be honest. Sometimes I don’t think I managed well and yeah, like I say, I learned from the mistakes, I think it’s normal, it’s learning. To come here now I think it is the best moment in my life and to feel open to share these kind of details.”

Brazil are the record World Cup winners and their fans expect excellence, so Cunha has experience in having pressure on his shoulders.

Often, the shirt of United is just too heavy for players, with Ruben Amorim explaining why some players excel after leaving the club he stated that come cannot handle the pressure.

Cunha says he can, and in his interview, the new star of Old Trafford revealed his thoughts on Amorim.

Everything Cunha told Danny Webber was a green flag, and we are sure Amorim will agree with what the 26-year-old said about his new manager.

“He is very important to bring me here. I really believe in him, everything he did in Portugal. I hope he can conquer the world here like he did in Portugal.

“But of course, he needs players who can do everything, like I am open to doing to help the team and help him. All of my conversations with him made my decision easier.”

Cunha fits into Amorim’s run like dogs demand and also he will be a part of the team rather than an individual which has had emphasis placed on it by the head coach.
