Mason Mount’s telling message to Manchester United fans caught the eye of both Alejandro Garnacho and Joshua Zirkzee after the Manchester City match on Sunday.
Manchester United hosted Manchester City at Old Trafford and the Red Devils played out a cagey 0-0 Premier League draw on the weekend in the Manchester derby.
Neither Ruben Amorim’s men nor Pep Guardiola’s side could break the deadlock — or find the winner — in a lacklustre contest on Sunday afternoon at Old Trafford.
United languish in 13th place in the Premier League table under Ruben Amorim with only seven league matches remaining in their disappointing 2024-25 campaign.
Amorim’s side face an uphill battle to finish in the top half of the table and United are on course for their worst finish in the table in the Premier League era.
United have only managed two wins in their last five Premier League matches and have picked up 10 victories overall from 31 league fixtures in the current season.

Alejandro Garnacho and Joshua Zirkzee both respond to Mason Mount after Man Utd’s Premier League result vs Manchester City at Old Trafford
Mason Mount came off the bench in the second half and the former Chelsea ace enjoyed a steady cameo in Manchester United’s 0-0 draw with Manchester City.
The 26-year-old former England international’s spell at Old Trafford has been disrupted by injuries and Mount made his return after the March international break.
Mount took to Instagram after the Manchester derby at Old Trafford on Sunday and the United star put an important focus on the Red Devils’ Europa League campaign.
“Plenty to take away. Big one Thursday,” he wrote to his 5.7m followers on Instagram.

Alejandro Garnacho was spotted in the comments of the post and the 20-year-old Spain-born attacker was straight to the point with his response to Mount.
“He is back,” he wrote, adding a fire emoji.
Joshua Zirkzee, much like United teammate Garnacho, was thrilled with having Mount back and Toby Collyer and Chido Obi-Martin also reacted to the post.
Responding to Mount’s post, United striker Zirkzee posted: “My guy!!!! [sic]”
What Ruben Amorim made of Man Utd’s Premier League performance vs Man City at Old Trafford
Speaking after the result at Old Trafford, United manager Ruben Amorim insisted that there were highlights from his side’s display against City on the weekend.
“You can see it, [same] as me, the team is more comfortable,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“The positions, we can make better connections, we are pushing the opponents sometimes to the last third.
“We are defending and blocking the talented players like Manchester City have. I think we blocked most of the chances; they didn’t create much.
“They had the ball, but without danger, so we are improving.”
United will now travel to France to face Lyon at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais on Thursday in the first leg of their quarter-final clash in the Europa League.
