Man Utd fans have lot to say about Mason Mount after performance vs Man City, ‘system’ claim perfectly sums him up

Manchester United fans dropped a clear-cut verdict on Mason Mount after his cameo performance against Manchester City in the Premier League clash at Old Trafford.

Manchester City and Manchester United played out a 0-0 draw in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon in a lacklustre encounter in the Manchester derby.

The Red Devils were wasteful with their chances against Pep Guardiola’s men and Ruben Amorim was left frustrated watching from the Old Trafford touchline.

United’s result against City at Old Trafford has left the Red Devils languishing in 13th place in the Premier League table with only seven league matches remaining.

The Red Devils have only won 10 times in 31 Premier League matches in the 2024-25 campaign and could fail to finish in the top half of the table this season.

United could miss out on a place in Europe next season if Ruben Amorim’s men are unable to improve their Premier League standing before the campaign is done.

But Amorim could still secure United’s return to the Champions League for the 2025-26 campaign if the Red Devils are able to lift the Europa League title this season.

What Man Utd fans said about Mason Mount’s cameo performance in the Manchester derby vs Man City at Old Trafford

Mason Mount made his return to the Manchester United first-team squad after the end of the March international break and is being eased into action for the club.

The 26-year-old former Chelsea ace came off the bench in United’s 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League clash at City Ground on Tuesday evening.

Following United’s result against Nottingham Forest, Mason Mount was on the bench for Sunday’s 0-0 Premier League draw against Manchester City.

Ruben Amorim subbed on Mount in the 71st minute in place of Manuel Ugarte and the former United midfielder impressed with his cameo performance at Old Trafford.

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, praised Mount and are keen to see the former England international “stay free from injury.”

One Red Devils supporter said: “Mason Mount fits this system so well. Only if he can stay fit.”

“Mason Mount, that cameo won’t go unnoticed,” another United fan tweeted.

Somebody else added: “I wanna see [an] injury-free Mason Mount next season.”

“On the bright side, that Mason Mount cameo was really good,” a fourth X user wrote.

While a fifth suggested: “Mason Mount, just stay free from injury, he will come in handy.”

“Mason Mount is so underrated,” someone else posted.

An eighth simply argued: “I would play Mason Mount over [Alejandro] Garnacho.”

Ruben Amorim keeps it real with Man Utd challenge after Premier League result vs Manchester City at Old Trafford

Speaking after the largely uneventful Manchester derby, United manager Amorim insisted that he is well aware of the challenge of returning the club back to the top.

“I’m not naive or crazy, I can see the moment we are in, I can look at the opponents and understand there is a big gap, but as a leader, I cannot say we are going to take all of the time to close the gap,” he said, as per BBC Sport.

“Even if we bring in more players we have to hurry and show urgency to do better because we don’t have much time at a club like this. We are in a rush.”

United will now travel to the Parc Olympique Lyonnais on Thursday evening for their first-leg Europa League quarter-final clash with Ligue 1 outfit Lyon in France.
