Mason Mount has been reborn under Ruben Amorim and is finally getting a run of fitness at Manchester United.

It has been over two years since Mason Mount swapped the blue of Chelsea, for the red of Manchester United.

Despite eyebrows being raised at the fee, there was excitement at the time, with Mount reflecting on his childhood United memories of watching Cristiano Ronaldo score a free-kick against Portsmouth.

Mount followed in Ronaldo’s footsteps, being handed the number seven shirt, which emphasises the hopes that United had for the England international.

However, Mount has struggled with injuries since his second appearance, with his recovery never quite coming until the past few months as he has managed to keep fit since April.

Now, during pre-season he is settling into his role as the second choice left sided number 10, despite Mount arguing he can challenge to start. But behind the scenes, Mount is becoming an off the field leader.

Now, Mount has been giving advice to one youngster during pre-season.

Laurie Whitwell says Mason Mount is helping Bendito Mantato in training

Mount had an encouraging end to the season for United, showcasing why Ruben Amorim is so high on him.

Mount’s return was like buying a new player, but as good as he can be on the pitch, it is easy to forget how experienced he is off the pitch, with the 26-year-old sharing his footballing wisdom with the next generation.

Laurie Whitwell revealed this after speaking with Mount, explaining on the Stretford Paddock YouTube channel what he had heard regarding Bendito Mantato being taken under the wing.

“He senses I think where to move in the right way, and he was speaking actually about how he is giving that instructions to his younger teammates.

“He mentioned Bendito in the first game against Leeds and giving him tips on how to find little pockets of space, so I think that is why coaches really like him, he has that ability to communicate with his teammates.”

Examples like this will go in Mount’s favour when it comes to evaluating his importance to the squad as a whole and the next generation.

Bendito Mantato needs to take Mason Mount’s advice on board at Manchester United

Despite being just 17, Mantato is viewed as a future star at United and his involvement on the pre-season tour with the first team is a prime example of this.

Amorim handed Mantato a new squad number this summer and he played a substantial role in the pre-season opener against Leeds United.

Despite a couple of moments that demonstrated his ability on the ball, Mantato struggled to find space and when he received the ball, has often been immediately under pressure.

So if Mantato is able to learn Mount’s ability to find space, and awareness to understand where he needs to be, it will only help the teenager to develop.
