Manchester United star Mason Mount has spoken out after he was forced off with an injury in the 2-1 comeback win over Manchester City last weekend.
Erik ten Hag brought Mason Mount to Old Trafford in 2023 after Manchester United signed him from Premier League rivals Chelsea for an initial £55m fee.
Mount struggled to live up to the high expectations placed on him during his debut season at Old Trafford, with injuries curtailing his run in the 2023-24 campaign.
The 25-year-old former Chelsea ace managed only five Premier League starts in 14 appearances last season, with Mount netting once for the Red Devils in the league.
Mount, who inherited the iconic No 7 shirt after his United move, was sidelined again at the start of the 2024-25 campaign after a hamstring injury in August.
The United star bounced back from the initial injury and had featured regularly under Ruben Amorim after Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager.

Mount drops major injury update
Mason Mount started the Manchester derby in attack alongside Rasmus Hojlund and Amad Diallo, but the Manchester United star would suffer another injury setback.
The former England international lasted only 14 minutes before United manager Ruben Amorim was forced to withdraw him and replace him with Kobbie Mainoo.
Mount subsequently failed to make the United squad for the 4-3 Carabao Cup quarter-final defeat to Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday.
The ex-Three Lions star has now taken to social media to confirm that he suffered an injury at the Etihad and Mount insisted he will come through this “tough period.”
Speaking in a post on Instagram, Mount wrote: “Words can’t portray how devastated I’m feeling right now, you could probably see the look on my face when it happened. I knew what it meant.
“United fans, you may not know me too well yet, but one thing I can guarantee, I will never give up or lose faith.
“I’ve said this before, but I will continue to give everything, get through this tough period and won’t stop until that’s achieved.”
Man Utd boss Amorim on Mount injury
Amorim has appeared to be a big fan of Mount and the former Sporting CP boss has played the Red Devils star in six of his first eight matches in charge at the club.
The 39-year-old Portuguese manager admitted that Mount could be out for a while and United do not have an “exact date” for his return after his muscle injury.
“Several weeks,” Amorim said, as per The Guardian.
“I don’t know the exact date but it’s going to be for a long time. That is not my department [to understand the underlying reasons for injuries].
“What I can do is to help Mason to teach him how to play our game when he’s recovering.
“Try to use that time for him to think about different things. The worst part is that we don’t have time to train like we should do when you are recovering from a lot of injuries.
“We are always travelling, have games, we don’t have all the team together so this makes it really hard to recreate the games before they come to the [actual] game.”
