Mason Greenwood is now thriving at Getafe, where he is currently on loan from Manchester United.

The Manchester United loanee has had a fantastic spell over in Spain. Mason Greenwood scored two in 59 minutes for his side in the Copa Del Rey on the 1st of November, registering his first double away from the Red Devils.

His fine form then continued into La Liga. Just four days later, he provided the game-winning assist for Borja Mayoral who won the game for the Spanish side despite Getafe being down to ten men.

He’s been at it again this weekend, with another goal contribution against Granada in La Liga.

Mason Greenwood continues hot streak in La Liga

Greenwood played 87 minutes for Getafe, but it was in the first minute he had his undoubted highlight of the fixture.

The 22-year-old picked up the ball on the left-hand side and drove with purpose into the box, leaving a Granada player in his tracks.

He then put the ball on a plate for Mayoral, who tapped home to make it 1-0.

The game finished 1-1, with Granada scoring just before half-time. This wasn’t a great result for Greenwood’s side, with their opponents sitting in 19th – however, he had another good game.

A lot of this may be down to the all-new role he’s settled into nicely for the Spanish club.

Greenwood’s all-new role a Getafe may suggest fine form

Greenwood has fully locked down the left-midfield position for Getafe.

Jose Bordales’ side likes to play 4-5-1, with Mayoral the target man – so Greenwood has had to adapt to not just the left-hand side, but playing a little further back.

At Manchester United, he was very used to playing on the right wing, with managers knowing his left peg was equally as deadly as his right.

He’s evidently thriving in this deeper role, with some impressive stats as of late. Getafe will be more than happy they took a punt on him in the summer.
