Mason Greenwood has put in another superb performance for Getafe in La Liga as his stock continues to rise in Spain.

The Manchester United loanee provided the game-winning assist for Borja Mayoral who won the game for the Spanish side despite Getafe being down to ten men.

Mason Greenwood’s assist keeps up his good form in Spain, this comes after he netted twice for the La Liga side in a 12-0 win against Tardienta in the Copa Del Rey.

He had three goals in four appearances coming into the game and his match-winning assist, a flick-on from a corner to Mayoral who was waiting at the back post, keeps up his good start to life in Spain.

Greenwood’s future

The United forward was suspended by his current club back in 2022 and looked to have no future in the game after such a lengthy lay-off but his return in Spain has given him hope that he can get back to the level he showed at Old Trafford.

His future at Old Trafford, however, is seemingly less bright. After it was leaked by The Athletic that United planned to bring him back, the club made a U-turn due to the sheer volume of people disagreeing with the decision.

Richard Arnold, United’s CEO, reportedly spoke to staff who were concerned about the return of the forward and sought to allay those fears held by people who work at the club, according to The Athletic.

United’s decision

It’s clear that the club, no matter how well Greenwood does from now until the end of the season, cannot bring the Englishman back to Old Trafford.

The Sun have claimed that the 22-year-old is enjoying life so much in Spain and Getafe that he wants to make his current loan move permanent.

This would be the best solution for all parties and if other top Spanish sides come in for him, Sevilla have been linked previously by The Mirror, then even better. United could even get a decent fee for the forward.
